Note to Parents!

Hello RHS Roughrider XC parents . . . just a quick note to let you know how you can locate the schedule and results. On the right, locate the "RHS Page on Athletic.net" and click there. Athletic.net is a Website that most schools in Washington use to schedule meets and record meet results. You'll find the meet schedule on this site and, as the season progresses, you'll find times for the runners for each meet. At the top of the site, find "Team" and "Season stats" for more information about the team and each runner.

The first meet is next Thursday, Sept. 11 at Lincoln Park. The meet consists of 4 races, a JV and Varsity race for the boys and girls. The first race usually starts around 4:00pm. Check back for the order of the events. -- KS

Roughriders Face Challenge | State Recap

Jamel, Matthew, Sean, Malcolm, Derek, Andrew, Abraham & Coach

Each year at the Washington Cross Country championships, runners leave the Sun Willows Golf Course--site for the meet--scratching their heads wondering what they could have done to improve their lot. The course is beautiful, but deceptively challenging. Its continuous undulations and spongy surface are typically nothing most runners have experienced all season . . . until the end. On Saturday, Andrew and Abraham joined 150 runners for the concluding WIAA meet of the season. They looked good throughout the race but were unable to crack the top 50. Both runners will return next year for an opportunity to compete with Washington's best cross country athletes.

Results can be found here.
Pictures of the meet can be found here.

STATE 2007 | Preview

The Seattle Times published a brief "State Meet At a Glance" this morning and included a short article about the Redmond girl's team. With the loss of the Eastside and South King County Journals this year, the cross country coverage in the area has been pitiful. The Washington Runners Web site has been a great addition with nice contributions from various cross country enthusiasts in the state. This Pasco Cross Country Facts is a nice compendium of teams competing at this years' meet.

According to Weather Underground , the conditions during the day should be nearly ideal with the high temperature reaching 58 degrees.

State Bid Falls Short

The KingCo Conference representatives at the District 2/4 cross country meet this past Saturday made quite a statement by finishing in the top 6 positions. Unfortunately for the Roughriders, they needed to finish in the top 4 to make it to Pasco next week and fell short by 6 points. Individual qualifiers included Abraham and Andrew who finished with the identical time of 16:39. The full results can be found here.

Three seniors--Ben, Sean, and Malcolm--ran their last RHS XC race and gave it their best. They won't be forgotten any time soon. It's now up to the younger members of the team to step up and get the team over the hump next year so they can return to Pasco.

Keep returning to this page for new photos, links, and information about summer XC camps. Stay tuned!

Good luck at State, Abraham and Andrew! Go Riders!
