Air Quality and Practice Time Change

Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for sticking with us through such a strange time.

Firstly a reminder, practices have switched to being held at 4:30 pm Monday-Friday to avoid conflict with online classes.

Also, due to some health concerns surrounding the air quality as a result of recent forest fires, we have made the judgement call to cancel practice for today. It's hard to predict the forecast and we hope to have practice tomorrow, if we decide to cancel again a notice should go up on this blog tomorrow around noon.

Please make sure to stay healthy until we can hold practices safely again.

Thanks again,

-Captains 20-21

Season Postponed!

Hello XC Mob,

Unfortunately the cross country season has been postponed until March 2021. With classes held online, all fall sports are cancelled, the need to stay active and keep our sense of community alive is greater than ever.

Captains will continue to hold optional practices through October. Runners will be split into small groups of five and will remain socially distant throughout practice, masks are required. We will then take a break in November and begin training for our spring season when allowed by the WIAA. Beginning this Monday 8/24 we will meet at Cowen Park (at Brooklyn Ave side between 62nd and Ravenna) at 9am. Practice times will change once we know the school schedule.

All future updates and communication concerning these practices will come directly from the captains via the team website and the team’s social media. These optional practices will be held Monday through Friday and everyone is encouraged to participate as often as they can. We hope to see you out there this fall!

2020 Summer Practices

Hello Everyone,

This is Ben Mazor, I am one of the 2020-2021 Cross Country Captains along with Dominick Cornia, Will Callender, and Jack Griffith.

Unfortunately we were not able to contact incoming freshmen in the ways we would in a typical year, however, we are still excited to have new runners come out and join us.

We are doing captain lead practices five days a week throughout the entire summer for returning athletes and Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for newcomers. The time and location of these practices vary week to week and will be sent out via the team informational email. On arrival at the practice location, runners will be split into small groups of 5 to warmup and run in, we would like everyone to bring and wear a mask as much as possible. Please stay home if you are feeling sick!

The specifics of the season are uncertain at this point but we will work hard to make sure that all of our athletes are prepared for racing no matter how it may look this season.

If you are not already on this email and would like to be, you can do so here:

Also if you need to contact Coach Collier, you can do so here.

And if you have any other questions, I may be able to help. You can leave a comment under this post or email me here

Thanks everyone, stay safe and healthy!

Hiatus!

Given low viewership and other options for more timely distribution of key XC Mob information, this blog will not be updated for the foreseeable future.

To get the latest information reliably, it is recommended that you do both of the following:

1. Make sure you are subscribed to the email distribution list. Emails come from rhsxcmob@gmail.com, so check your spam folder if you think you are subscribed and are not receiving them. To subscribe, just send a message to rhsxcmob@gmail.com with your first and last name and email address, and you'll be added to the list.

2. Facebook group is also RHS XC Mob, so route there, request to join, and you'll be approved and added to the group.

Thanks!

Wednesday Potluck!

Potluck! Wednesday 10/5 from 6:30pm - 8:00pm @ 1428 North 53rd Street (home of Penn Anderson).

Annual Parent Chili Feed and Fundraiser

The long standing tradition of the Roosevelt Boys Cross County XC-Mob continues! Please join us at the Fulton home on Friday October 14 for a simple supper, good conversation, and the opportunity to raise money for our boys as they turn in one of their best seasons in recent memory. We’ll provide the Chili, bowls, napkins, and utensils, and each family is asked to bring a salad, cornbread, or a desert based in last name.

We’ll pass the hat (all checks should be made out to "Roosevelt Athletic Boosters / Boys XC”) and use he proceeds to support post-season travel, uniforms, senior gifts, and other incidentals not covered by the District. Coach Collier will make an appearance to talk about the season to date and our plans for Metro and Districts.

This is a fun event and a great opportunity to get to know the faces you see out on the course.  We sincerely hope you can make it, and especially welcome program alumni who are running at the next level or simply would like to stay in touch with the program.

Please RSVP to frfulton@mac.com, and we’ll see you on the 14th. Parking is readily available on 46th, 75th, or on 45th on the East side of View Ridge Park.
